DIY Chalkboard Table

Chalkboard paint has been quite a 'trend' in the DIY world recently.
When I noticed my old wooden table was looking well, old, I decided to give this a go:

Supplies:
~table surface
~spray paint
~chalkboard paint (got mine @ Michael's)
~chalk
~painter's tape
~foam paint brush

First off I spray painted the top black.
Then, I taped off the sides and spray painted the legs white.
(Not my original design, but I ran out of black spray paint.)
Next, I taped off the  four edges of the table top
...and sectioned it off into 2 rectangles.
I then painted the first layer of paint and let it dry for 2 hours I think,
according to the instructions.
After that I did 2 more coats.
My instructions required me to 'condition' the chalkboard
surface by rubbing chalk over it and wiping it off.
That's it for this project! Leave any questions or comments below!

DIY Decorative Switch Plates

From now on, I'm hoping to do a few more home decor tutorials. Exciting!
Level:
Supplies:
  • Electrical Outlet Covers
  • Acrylic Paint
  • brushes, water, old placemat
  • Start with an electrical outlet cover and make sure you have a screw.

  • Things to decorate it with, rhinestones, buttons, ribbon, glitter, sequins...
I painted my cover with purple acrylic paint. I'm also painting on a manilla folder as a surface.
After the paint dries, you can add what ever decoration you like!
Start with an electrical outlet cover and make sure you have a screw.

I added a lavender ribbon on the bottom with hot glue :)

DIY Beach Frame!

We're all waiting for summer to start, and with the first day of Spring being yesterday, bring some summer into your home or bedroom with this gorgeous frame. One thing I forgot to mention in the video- spray the painted frame with sealant, acrylic spray finish, or whatever you have to prevent chipping of the paint.

Flag Canvas: Gift Idea

This canvas will make a great gift for someone with a diverse heritage. I'm painting the Union Jack for my room, even though I'm not British. :) - P.S. the project took me less than 10 minutes!
Level:
Supplies:
  • 5" by 7" canvas (or a size of your choice)
  • paintbrush or foam brush
  • Acrylic paint in colors of flag (ex. England- red and blue)
  • pencil
Use a pencil to lightly outline your flag design and start painting.

Here is my finished product. Cute, huh?

Which flag will you choose?
